Ok ok. Hear me out.. whilst this sounds more like a recipe for some weird fruity-guacamole hybrid, it’s actually delicious. The basil adds a little twist and enhances the sweetness of the whole drink. Whenever I make myself a smoothie I do it because I’m feeling like an ethereal yogi getting their juicing on (and because I’m forcing some nutrients into me). Usually I’ll make a green juice and it just tastes like mushed up kale and not much else so I’ve been experimenting with ingredients to enhance the sweetness, whilst ensuring it’s still packed with green nutrients.
Adding a scoop of enriched green superfood powder helps, as well. Don’t ask me where I got mine from, I found it at the back of my condiments cupboard having bought it a couple of years back (probably doing some dumb carb-free lemonade cleanse) and never touched it until now. Come to think of it I should probably check the use-by dates on things like that.. ANYWAY these powders come packed full of vitamins and minerals so it felt good to give myself an extra boost, but to be honest, when blending a ton of fruits and veggies do you really need added supplements on top? (I feel a little blog post coming on..)
100g frozen mango chunks
1/2 ripe avocado
250ml pineapple juice
Small bunch of fresh basil
Scoop of green superfood powder (optional)
Literally add all the ingredients into a blender and pulse until smooth (easiest recipe writing ever).
